Wigwam and Pollen Grain

Pollen Grain and Wigwam were completed in 2008 at the Mueller Airport redevelopment. Catellus commissioned us to create these two sculptures in a demonstration garden built on a strip of pure Blackland Prarie soil, newly unearthed from under the tarmac. Both sculptures are custom designed and site specific. Wigwam is a wayfinding tower, part jet age, part indigenous architecture, and part wildflower, this sculpture alludes to all the inhabitants in this space throughout history.
Pollen Grain is a steel 14 foot diameter sphere floating 10 feet above a park path. It is a model of a singular cactus spore, blown up 300,000 times.
